07 SI turbo options
I just bought a 2007 SI and I'm wondering how much work it'll take(more than a weekend?) to install a turbo kit. Also, roughly what would it cost to have a professional install it for me? This leads to another question, does anyone know of a good spot for that around Madison, WI? One last question, how much boost can the internals safely handle? Thanks.

its HP, not PSI. You could run like 10 PSI on a T25, but then like 2 PSI on a giant diesel turbo and would create similar power. With teh diesel turbo it would be useless anyway becasue by the time your little 4 banger gets that thing spooled up it's not worth it. So i've heard that double OEM horsepower is safe, but almost 400 hp (since you're at 197 now) seems pretty harsh to me. So i'd say 300 or so.
I boosted my si on a Jackson Racing S/C, and in three days I had taken apart two si's, strip the s/c off one, put it on the other and got both running again. I researched it before hand and knew what I was doing. I have an 02 Si and my block is good for 350 hp, you have a much stronger setup stock, but I think you'd be happy with eight psi (can run that easily) and the hp that would come of that. Getting someone else to do it isn't gratifying, I loved busting knuckles, and learning about my car....so paying someone to do that for me wouldn't be something i'd of even considered. Turbo setups come with instructions, along with numbers to call, you read those through and through and call if you have any questions and you'll be fine
but at the same time you need to get a tune once installing the turbo or supercharger. you need to take that to a performance place that has a dyno and all that. dont wanna blow n e thing once installing the turbo.
Unless you get k-pro, you'll be okay running the pre set map that comes with it for a while. A tune will set you back a good bit, but my friend is running 8 pounds on a GT35R turbo and the map setting with k-pro and has been fine.
