Adding turbo to d15b7??
The real beuty of D-series engines is that they are DIRT CHEAP. You can pick up a block for $50 and build that in under $500-600 or actually I had plans on building one in under 400...heads can be had for under 100 if you look hard enough...S20 transmissions can be found under 200 again if you look hard enough...

Without an unbelievable good tune on a b series i still wouldnt want 300whp on stock internals.

sorry about the 300 repley i was thinking of a b series

Never say never!
The D15B7 block is probably good till about 200whp, the rods won't hold up well. It will also need a good tune in order to last, along with a modified oil pump etc. It's not going to be just a "throw it on and cross your fingers" kind of thing, you will need to take extra precautions because this engine is seriously not a boost engine.
Like I said, pick up a full Z6/Y8 swap for $400 bucks and turbo it. Much more aftermarket, and much more support should you blow it to pieces.
I have a boosted d15 that puts out 164whp at 8lbs. I don't even have an intercooler yet and I've been running it like this for over a year! Love it. I would like a bit more power, so I'm just finishing up putting in another turbo set up. I'm just running a 12:1 fmu, but if that doesn't meet my needs, I'm seriously looking at a Greddy emanage Ultimate.
By the way D15's are cheap, but who wants to spend their weekend pulling engines. Do your homework (see what other people are doing with d15's www.homemadeturbo.com) and get the tune.
Good luck

I like superchargers, BUT.........my turbo is much less limited. Internal upgrades on my motor and crank the boost up to 15 psi........still wouldnt max t[sm=bling.gif][sm=smiley20.gif][sm=w00t.gif]he turbo out. Oh and I get 45+ MPG on the highway @ 65 mph

Tut tut, did you not read my post? Guy around here is making 375whp on a 98% stock D16Z6, Jeff Evans tuned. Engine even survived a 31psi spike making an incredible 410whp. Only mods are ARP head studs and a cosmetic head gasket.
Never say never!

Thats great and all but i wouldnt make it my DD. When you do that you basically are asking an engine that does 160 at the crank out of the box to do 215 more hp. Thats a chit load for a DD.
And wtf is "tut tut"
ok i saw the z6 on here would be ok to boost but would the jdm d15b be as ok to boost??

also because i'm looking into boosting, i also have the greddy kit in mind. but i'm curious to see what kind of psi i'm looking at at just bolt on and tune? i'm looking to boost more or less 10-12 or would i have to upgrade stock internals? also if i were to upgrade the turbo would i need new turbo manifold and all the new hardware? any help would be awesome.
