Default First car

I am looking to buy my first car and I am looking closely at a particular 97 civic hatchback dx. Here are the specs.1997 Honda Civic, DX, drk gray, sun roof, carbon fiber hood, 17" wheels, body kit, spoiler, lowered, new tires & clutch, 135k mi, $4200 OBO. Ok now for the questions. Is this a good/cool first car? Does price and everything sound good? I want to turbocharge the engine with my dad as a winter project before I get my lisence, But I dont know what kind to buy. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading.

A turbo civic should not be the first thing you drive beforeor right afteryou get your license. You would wrap it around a tree.

Well you see I have a good deal of driving fast vehicles because I race quads. And mine goes about 70 on dirt tracks and about 50 in the woods. So I know how to drive at high speeds. And I know what my limitations are. My friend has a turbo aveo and I have driven it before. ( not on public road)

An atv and dirt bike are nothing like driving a car. You can't compare your riding skills to driving. It's also not really the driving fast that is hard, it is the acceleration. Do you know what torque steer is?

yeah driving a quad on a two track is a bit different than driving a 2000 pound steel brick with pedestrains and other cars around you. but its not hard you just have to be smart (smarts come with age)

i rolled my 95 civic when i was 16 and it was stock. so a turbo civic can get you into a mess a whole lot quicker .

needless to say i don't drive like a 16 year old *** anymore.

i wouldnt buy a pre-modified car, with 135K miles on top of that. I say find a stock DX (preferably 6th gen w/ relaly low miles) and mod it from there. And until you do research and REALLY REALLY REALLY know what you're getting into, i dont think you should turbocharge it

I hate to say the same but ya I wouldn't turbo the car either just before getting your licence. I really stick to the old things of having a cheaper car for your first car. That way you learn to care about your car a lot more and get much better with learning the streets, traffic and other potential hazards. Just take it from experience and hopefully we won't turn you away and to let you know my first car was a 1989 Dynasty with 200 plus klicksso in all honesty you are not that bad off

When I was younger... hey I wanted a cool care too. One that was fast and beautiful but in all reality it really doesn't happen and if it does, you don't learn to apprieciate the things you gain later on from working hard.

Just be patient and just love the fact that you are almost driving soon>Freedom
