Default fmu?

What exactly does the fmu do under boost condtions. And making a good home made turbo kit what other electronics do you need. Is it the fmu and the missing link. Is that seroiously reliable that sounds kind of cheesey. has anyone ran a homemade setup reliable for more than 10K miles. Thanks guys.

The FMU adds more fuel while under boost so that you don't run extreamly lean. I guess one would be alright for low boost but chiping and tuning your ecu is always the best thing to do.

The fuel management unit allows more fuel to get in like Mobsta said. If you force more air into the cylinders via a turbo, you must add more fuel. The missing link is the MAP bypass valve. The MAP is designed to read vacuum pressure, if you don't have the missing link then you will throw an engine code. The Missing Link intercepts the Boosted air flow before it hits the MAP Sensor. This fixes the check engine lights you might throw without one. It also helps the computer to maintain proper Air/Fuel mixtures and provides smooth vacuum to boost transitions.

So those are the only two componets (electronic portion) two making a safe boosted civic. So techincally do you need a missing link. Will the turbo still work perf if you don't use the missing link thanks guys.

I don't know but why don't you want to use one, they aren't expensive.

No no its not like that im just saying hypotheticly. Im just trying to learn as much as possible with every angle. you know what I mean vern. If a guy has fuel managment (greddy, aem, hondata) then do you need fmu and or the missing link.

on our si's we tried to use a missing link but it was worse wth it than it was without it.. the car ran horrible with it

my advice is to buy hondata and run a 3 bar and call it done

its worked out really well for us
