Default Hey turbo guru's

Well as I have been reading through endless posts of turbo this and turbo that... I have some q's myself that I am not sure anyone has asked so far.

1. Life of a turbo? Life of your engine with a turbo installed?
Proper maintanence and installing the correct parts for what you want (single digit psi and above) is key but how long does a turbo last usually?

2. Installation and having it pass smog or C.A.R.B. procedures?
Depending on what customs, add on's or upgrades you do, do you lose other parts of your engine such as space for a/c, fans, or others?

3. Other car modifications
So now that you have your car turboed, what should be done elsewhere to furtherly enhance your cars performance such as suspension, clutch, braking system and what not?

4. Problems / troubleshooting with having a turbo? (had to ask)

Thanks guys!

1. you should easily get at least 60k out of a turbo. Good thing about turbos is no matter what brakes it is replacable. Turbos break apart into peices with very little work and are fairly easy to rebuild/repair.

2. If you buy a carb legal kit it will be carb legal and fairly easy to install. Hardest part will most likely be the oil lines. Most peice together kits you will lose ac. You can usally add a FAL fan though.

3. why stop there. Deff get a good clutch, and brakes to handle the new power. An LSD would be a big boost in performance and suspension depends on what you want it for

4. Turbos are very simple devices but are noisy and can make other problems hard to find/locate

If any, which kits allow you to still have an a/c (its hot out here..) or would some customizing need to come into play? Yeah, what is an FAL fan?

if a company has a turbo kit that takes out the A/C chances are they will have another kit that will keep it. (for track day car vs. dual duty car)
