I asked the seller of the first stats i posted what the brand of turbo is and he replied saying:

Its not a cheap setup, its a t3/t4 ar63 trim hybrid ball bearing turbo.

........still no brand name

You just asked him the brand and that's what he said? Sounds like he knows it's cheap and he's trying to hide it.

I don't see any generic turbos like that on eBay though so I find it odd that he can't provide you with the brand name. Try telling him you just want to know what brand it is .

interesting....

this just sucks because those 2 are my only options. I dont really want to fork out another $1000+ replacing/tuning a new turbo

If it turns out that if it is no-name it might be this one:

Kind of expensive for a no-name turbo though... i'm curious as to who made it.

EDIT: The guy doesn't even know?! wtf? If the guy had to go check to see what brand it is then he probably doesn't know anything about his setup.

And after looking carefully it seems the one I linked to is made by CXRacing, which is a crappy turbo.

Proof, 3rd post: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/arti...ing-turbo.html

Now i'm not sure at all if this guys turbo that you're talking to is a CXRacing one, but i'm just saying this is the only no name turbo i can find with those specs

You could always rebuild the no-name turbo with good bearings and seals if it blows... Or you could replace it with a name brand turbo of the same exact specs and maybe not even need a tune.

You could try it... it's already installed. Worst case scenario is that you have to replace it... it's not that hard to replace, only a few bolts. If you're at all mechanically inclined I think you could do it. I mean, you change your own oil, which while not an amazing feat still shows that you know at least a little bit. Most people can't even change their own oil.

The first one you posted definitely sounds more reliable and better than the second though, if that's the one we are talking about that you say drove well.
