Yah man do an LS/vtec setup. B18 head on a b20 block, for that amount of power your going to need to do a lot of work, everything possible. I've never seen an all motor built civic with over 600hp. gonna want to get the head p&p'd along with intake mani, and throttle body.

your gonna have to rebuild this thing from the bottom up, not just some rods, and what not. i dont know about port n' polish. whayt about getting the dart block and sleeveing it. your gonna need a dope turbo, and all internals, not to mention a suspension clutch and fly, and a $h!tload of other things... this is gonna be a huge project requireing extensive research and a bottomless wallet.
i like the B20 to start out with, but look into a H22, there about the same price, you could use a b16/18 head, and a b16 tranny, sleeve it, dart block, internals, and wutever else. your not gonna get close to the HP you want going all motor, so i suggest turbo the hell outta it...

So you dont think a port job will be helpful? You also want to sleeve a dart block? Do you know what a dart block is? You want to use an h22 with a b series head? B16 tranny, sleve it, dart block, internals? What does that sentance even mean? And I think the fact that he posted this in the "forced induction" forum means that hes probably planning on using some sort of "forced induction". Sorry to come across as rude but this might have been one of the worste posts Ive ever read.

To the o.p your on the right track with the bottom end. B16's seem to be a popular choice but really any b series head on an ls block will make big power with the right valvetrain, port and cam. I have seen them all make some pretty solid #'s. Good luck with the build.

Well, as for the crank, you dont need an aftermarket one for that much power. Ive seen and benn told that the stock B series crank will hold up to about 800 horse. Dont knife edge it because thatll only weaken it, and dont balance it because Honda does such a good job of it from the factory that there aer only a handful of shops in the US that can actually improve it. If its necessaray have the journals micro-polished, but if the journals are fine then DONT mess with em. Again, Honda puts a finish on the journals that are very hard to duplicate. Make sure your fuel system is up tothe task, and GL with everything else.

Too many people in here giving horrible info to the OP. The only person in here who probably knows some good info is red2000si.

And to whoever said LS/VTEC is b18 head on b20 block, that's just a perfect example of false info given out by someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. An LS motor is a b18. And more often then not, when I see people build ls/vtec's, they typically use a b16 head on an LS block.

Oh boy.

700whp and you're asking if VTEC is a factor or not.

Dude, I don't even know what to say. Sounds like you've never even built or driven a Civic with more than 300whp... if that.

700 horsepower shreads transmissions, axles, drivetrain parts. You'll need a twin disk, complete engine build, a GT40R or bigger turbo, full 10pt roll cage, chute, blah blah blah blah blah. This **** doesn't just come together with rods, pistons, and sleeves.

Aaron...you make me lol. At any rate, he's right...not only will you have to do your research on what its gonna take to get those numbers, but youre gonna have to know how to do maintenance. Stuff with that much power needs constant monitoring. I suggest you do a few months of research first...until then...a fire is the best place for you
