Question oil for turbo b16 (smoking blue on idle)

hi, what grade oil are people using in there turbo b series motors i have been using 5w 40 fully syn and have now started smoking blue when on idle.

I spoke to my tuner earlier and he says to try a number of things to try and source the oil leak in ie the turbo or valve stem seals or pcv valve and he asked which oil im using at the mo and i told him 5W 40 and he then said that sounds thin for a turbo car..

He recommend putting a thicker oil anyway aside from the oil burning issue, this could also possibly solve the oil burning? he says 10w 60 or similar full syn

what you guys think?

5w30

Do a dry/wet compression and leakdown test to find out where the smoke is coming from.

It depends on where you live. I guess no one ever reads their manuals?

5w - 40 is fine thats not what your problem is. And if you live in a place that gets real cold and real hot at certain times of the year that would be better than 5w - 30 in that case as long as it is fully synthetic.
