Default Shaft play?

I found this great deal on a t25 turbo, manifold, downpipe, and oil lines for my z6. The guy said the turbo has "minimal shaftplay". I know its bad but what does it mean and is it possible to fix it pretty cheap? Or should i just skip over the deal and find a better one?

Shaft play is pretty serious and not something you want to deal with. T25's are pretty tiny little turbos and dont cost very much normally. I wouldnt consider more than $100-$150 for that setup you mentioned to be a "great deal" so if its more than that I would stay away. You definatelydont wantrush into buying the actual turbo. You cancut corners a little morewhen you buy your intercooler and piping and other stuff but definately not your turbo.

i wouldn't buy it. if it has shaft play already then it's only going to get worse. then u will have to spend more money to have it rebuilt. spend alittle extra and get a quality turbo.

nah, not TOO dumb of a question. It's very simple actually, if you can move the "shaft" that the blades spin on, that is called shaft play. You literally put your finger on the shaft or blades, and try to wiggle it.
