Default T3T4 VS T25

94 civic ex d16z6
I have a sweet turbo mainfold for t3t4 turbo. Why do all my buddies rip on me when I want to go t3 t4. They say I won't get any boost until 6 to 7000 rpm. They're telling me to go T25. Are they correct or no. Won't a 45 trim T3T4 spoll pretty quick. Also if I go t3 t4 right away I'll have room for more boost in the future. whats your guys opinion on that. Thanks

I'd say your friends are idiots. On your motor it should spool around 4k

The advantage to the t25 is that it's smaller, spools quicker, so that you get more power down low, where Honda's lack it.

Coming from a guy who once owned a supercharged Honda with all the low end in the world.

Top end is where it's at yo!

<T3/T4 57trim, spools at 5K, sucks your eyeballs in at 7.[8D]

See, that is completely useless to me. I've built a daily driver so I need the low end scoot. It does me absolutely no good if I'm full boosting from 7-8k. I'll take my 2300rpm spool over the other any day

go with a small t3/t4...torque bomb is the last thing you want, full boost at or a little before 4000 should be fine, especially if you have a "sweet" manifold

sweet manifold, external gate and ebc should help keep spool time down

and with the larger turbine it allows your engine to breathe better up top rather than choke it, and will make power more effeciently with less boost

60 is good for spooling later. I have a new T3 .42AR, and its completely different from my old T3 .60AR. The old one use to start winding up around 3800, this one...wheewwww...its ready for the power just before 3. Its great, im breaking in the pistons, so i cant go into boost, but even in vaccum around 3k i can shift and still blow off. I love it!!

Like I said, I had the JRSC and instant boost. I went to spooling at 5K and having a 2500rpm powerband. Trust me, once you do it you'll realize that not having a low end is only bad for the few seconds you have to wait for the spool, because once it does, the next 3 gears go by fast as hell.

Again, that does me absolutely no good on my daily drives.. I use second gear the most for boost, taking nice rips from 20-50. Anything beyond that will get me locked up in the city

I plan on building a high boost app. as my next project (not a civic..), I'm sure I will love the advantages of which you speak, because it will be the car's purpose. For the car I currently have and it's purpose, t25>big t3
