ORIGINAL: md420

first it will start slipping then around 4 to 6 months later it will be unable to drive
Ive heard auto trannies can take up to 6 psi without a problem. Besides a D series auto tranny can be found for about 250$......manual conversions cost almost 3 grand (Assuming ur not doing it by yourself.)........ud be better off selling ur car and buying a 5 speed civic. However, im boosting my auto D16.......im just going to get myself another auto tranny......bring it to a tranny shop and get it beefed up.......so if and when the tranny i got now goes.......ill slip the old one off and slide the new one in........

see that is ok to have it beefed up but dont plan on running a stock auto tranny with 6psi for long before you start seeing side affects.

I can not stress this enough.........Civic auto tranny's are a complete joke in stock form and not to damn great fully built. A fully built d series auto tranny will almost be as good as a stock 5 speed with a stg1 (220 to 240whp mark)

Dont be so dense and read between the lines................that is exactly what I mean

D series Auto Tranny = no after market support, you dont go cheap when boosting or doing any other modds to your car now why in blue hell would you go cheap with the drive terrain(not directed at any certain member here)

youre right.........but u said it urself........limited aftermarket support. So im stuck with the auto and cant afford to switch to 5 speed right now. Maybe in the future but prolly not. But look at it like this. How many autos u see iwth IHE, and every bolt on possible. That will put some more power down and the trannies do fine. If im running 6PSI or less.......and not beating the hell out of the car all the time........i think i should be okay.........even if i do kill the tranny ill simply swap it out for a new one. How hard could it be........take out the old one and the new one will line right up. No?

turboing an auto civic isn't a problem fits the same just research what your getting/doing if your dyi how much power are you looking for and how much are you willing to spend on this? And if your' going to turbo your car get a new exhaust too larger downpipe and for the tranny swap not work it take out all your mods sell your civic and buy a 5 speed if you can or learn.
