That is not what really makes the LT1's not rev freindly, the Cam is what really holds them back. The bottom ends are tolorable to the revs and with a brace connecting the main caps(adds to blocks stability), a cam, and mild headwork they can be seen w/o trouble. That is not my focus on this build though, I plan to be able to go to 7000rpm so that is a bit easier and if it goes right and I am making the power I want I'd say at around 6000 to 6500rpm you will be wanting to let off.

well, with all that extra valvetrain mass, it would become a huge problem. but youre right, with a drag V8, youre much better off getting the extra power from displacement and boost than trying to rev it faster.

I will still have a good window for power, I am leaning towards a set of gt40's so they will spool early. I figure insted of a 4000 to 8000rpm power range I'll have 2500 or so to 6500rpm. Still the same amount just lower in the range. Set that up with a 3000rpm stall converter and I'm gold to come off the line in full boost.

Go with the GT40s. Parallel turbos are unmatched for sheer driveability, especially on something as big as an LT1.

Not to mention they'll still be spooling 10 minutes after you race.

ever consider sequential turbos? A small turbine to bild boost quickly, then when its topped out it makes way for the large turbo in the top end. Takes a bit more tuning but when its done right its a monster.

Not as much potential as parallel though, and it's significantly more finnicky, especially when you're doing a V-setup. Plus, the small turbo/low spool is a pretty moot point on a V8. If you're running parallel, each exhaust bank simply routes through to a turbine, then the compressors both connect to the intake. But with sequential, you have to route both banks into a single small turbine, then into the larger one as well, not to mention all the gate piping.

My fault, just read the topic name again... thought we were talking 4-bangers

just a side question...would it be possible to have a quad-turbo setup in an fbody? like two sets of sequential turbos? so you get the power of two big turbos but it spools a lot faster.
