Personally if I was going to go through the hassle of a swap, I would do the H22, build it top to bottom, and turbo it. That motor can make some INSANE numbers when built and turbo'd. If you're into autoxing you wont' like the heavier motor, but for drag racing I don't believe the extra weight will have that much of an impact. just my 2 cents.

I've also heard that H22s have thin cylinder walls and are not so good for boost stock. Maybe you want to look into sleeves.
That is simply not true, I'd say you seen -7- post that stupid **** but did not see me call him out on lieing. The H22 stock is good for boost but like anything else it has it's limits and what limits it is not the cyl. walls. The ring lands are simply to high on the piston for the rings to be able to handle the added pressure after say 10 to 12psi from a decnt sized t3 or t3/t4

An H22 swap and a GSR swap cost about the same. The H22 makes more HP right of the bat and will prolly make more power over the GSR with equal mods. The H22 does weigh more, and i've heard that the handling goes down but i've never driven an H22 civic so i wouldn't know. How much would it cost?
H22 swap- $2600
Pistons-$400
Rods-$400-$1200 (depending on if you want steel, aluminium, or titanium)
Rings-$200
Sleeves-$900+
Clutch- ???
Other stuff (water pump, linkages, axles, timing belt, etc)-???

ive seen an all motor H22 bored and stroked to 2.7L with a 12.5:1 compression ratio making more than a couple horsepower and more torque than any NA GSR could ever make. but torque is the big point in this engine. any GSR can make the same HP as an H22.

awesome...thanks for the info. So basically i think im gonna do the H22 swap! i might just do the swap and boost at first since i live in Iowa and will only be at my dads shop in FL for about 2 weeks. I plan to move down there after i get out of school, so maybe ill pull it out and buid it up. How hard would it be to swap out the cams for some like stage 2 cams? hard? just curious on the extra beneftis of some of the little stuff i could do thats not BIG BIG money...persay..Stuff that i dont have to Disasemble the whole damn car to do!

I don't think it is that hard to change the cams. On an OHC engine they aren't too hard to get at. The thing is that if you get stage 2 cams, you might have to upgrade the vavle train wither stronger parts which can get expensive.

The thing about a h22 is that the weak point is the ring land on the pistons. The cyl. walls and such are fine. If you plan to boost go with a good set of pistons/rings and rods and a good tune and you will make more than enough power for the street. Also a bone stock H22 swapped hatch is a high 13 second car with a good driver, with bolt ons, clutch upgrades, slicks and a good tune you could see mid to low 13's

I think full race made a civic on a D series go like 11.5sec, but i don't think they are on pump gas.
