i know its an ebay, thats why i want the opinion since its only 1 grand.
how much horsepower do you think i'd get out of it? with a d17a1 in a 2002 dx coupe?
(is it safe to even by a turbo if my engine has over 120,000mi?)

 

A full turbo kit for $1000? I wouldn't even put it on a radio flyer wagon. I'm sure you already know this, but you get what you pay for, so please don't cheap out on car parts... especially when that part can turn your engine into a 200 lb chunk o' scrap metal.

The horsepower question depends on quite a few things... the turbo, the boost level, the engine (stock internals, built, etc.), the tuner, etc.

And if you want to know if it's safe to boost your engine, go to Autozone and rent a compression tester. If all cylinders are within 10%, you're good to boost the engine.

 

ok.I know you realize its ebay, and it's just that. The piping and intercooler and couplings are ok, and you might get away with the bov as well. I, personally, wouldn't use an ebay turbo/manifold. Plus, boosting a d17 is a hassle from what i hear, and you need to do it right the first time or you will just run into problems. Also with that kit, there are a lot of other things you need. RESEARCH before even considering boosting a car, let alone a d17. It can be done and done reliable but youre probably going to spend money to do it right and if youre spending money, spend money on good parts to begin with. Search HCF, there is someone here that did an amazing write up on a d17 turbo project.
