You are not understanding my point.

My point is if that were an 8 sec car (which it isn't), it would not pull on a stock Supra like that.

When you see a vid of a "race" and it shows a car just toatly being left in the dust, the reason is the car wasn't racing.

I have watched the Vid 3-4 times, the civic, pulled 200 feet in less then 3 secs. That tells me the civic went from 60 to 11o or so, while the Supra stayed at 60.

The Supra wasn't racing.....

Trust me.

I was just watching a vid of a 06 Zo6 "racing" a 350z. As i recall they were going from a 70 roll. The z06 ATE THE 350z alive (which it obvioulsy would). The z06 pulled about 1/3 on that 350z, what that civic did.

Go to a track sometime and watch a 13 sec car race a 11 sec car. The slight distance between the two may? surprise you. Keep in mind that distance was established over the course of 13/11 secs. The distance (gap) we saw in that vid happened in 3 sec.......and teh civic didn't hook up (spun tires). Common sense would have said that while the civic was spinning for .5 secs, the Supra would have atleast stayed somewhat even, if only for a sec or so.

From what I have seen on the www the fast majority of home made vids of street races are bogus.

I am sure many folks have boasted of "killing" me, when I didn't even know we were racing.

Atleast once a mth. I'll have a modded car blow me off the line at a stop light, while the people in the back seat are laughing and giving high fives, over the fact they "killed" me in a race.

If I have the time, I will follow them. They almost always pull into a parking lot, because they think I am going to give them props on the "race". I simply hand them a schedule of the local autocross races, and tell them we would love to have them come out, and that all makes of cars are welcome, and we look forward to the fellowship, and opportunity to see them run on the track. (local car club rents a 1/4 mile oval track, beside a drag strip, we have full access to the tracks for the afternoon).

For what ever reason they never show up?

Maybe I shouldn't hit the line lock button, and leave them in a CLOUD of smoke as I exit the parking lot?

Amazing how much different a car sounds when it is actualy "racing"

haha, you are ignorant buddy, real ignorant. Any built turbo'd civic hatch would own any stock TT supra in the 1/4 mile.

can you read?

It has already been established which car would be faster in a straight line from a roll. That is not being questioned by anyone in this thread. I suggest you dispute a comment I HAVE MADE, rather then attempting to "score" points about topics no one is disputing.

but an 8 second civic is all top end speed. if you put an 8 second civic against an 8 second Supra from, say, a 60-kick, the civic will walk it. most of the time a fast FWD wastes is getting off the line. once its rolling, it shines. but from-a-roll races are BS anyway. but since thats what the argument is about, i have to point out that in a top-end fight, a lightly modded Supra would get walked that bad by a 10 second civic. no doubt.

sigh..........

have you ever seen a 8 sec Supra? be honest.

I'll try this again......... I'll even type real slow T-H-E......S-U-P-R-A......W-A-S-N'-T.........R-A-C-I-N-G.

Is that clear?

I am not saying the Supra was as fast, nor am I saying it's faster.

The civic pulled 200 feet in 3 sec. No car can pull that much, when for 1/6th of that time your tires are spinning, unless you are racing a pile of $hit, ((((( OR )))))) the other car isn't racing.

THE SUPRA WASN'T RACING!

BTW a 8 sec car is NOT all top end......... in fact I would say that a 8 sec car has a WORLD CLASS hole shot.

then you havent driven a really fast FWD. the 60 ft times are crap compared to the same ET RWD car.
