Default 215-45-17 will it rub?

Anyone know if 215-45-17 is viable for a stock 2005 civic sedan, or will it rub for sure?

Thanks!

will probably rub, depending on the wheel offset.

Hmm, I bought some used rims with used 215-45-17 Hercules G5000 already on them. Rims are Ikon 17x7 with 45 offset. Guess only way to find out is put them on and see if they rub before getting new tires.
No one has tried a similiar setup and knows the answer already do they? Haven't been able to put them on yet as I can't find lug nuts that will fit in the holes. I will have to try a few more places on the weekend, maybe Napa sells the aftermarket type lug nuts?

The wheel has perfect measurments. Use http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlto calculate the correct tire size.

Brought it to a tire n' mag shop for some tuner lugs and had them put the tires on. No rubbing, even with 600lbsextrain the car (drovemy friends around with old tires in the trunk too)and looks pretty good without a drop. Having said thatthough, I will probablygo 205-45-17 when I replace the rubber as that is almost identical height to stock. Thanks guys.

the best size is 205/40/R17's, depending on the rim width

Correct. That is the closest you can get to stock size. That's also the size I'm running on my civic

I have to say, I'm really enjoying my new 215-45-17 tires. I don't know why some people are against this size but I find it gives a really great ride without any problems. My car is not lowered and it looks great too.

I would run that size but my car is lowered. 45's would be too much sidewall for me. But I bet they ride better than 40's.
