Default 95 lsi wheels and suspension

Hi guys,
I have jus got a 3door civic 1.5, and now i want some rims. I was thinking of going for 17 inch, but have been warned by a friend that he lost a lot of power when he did this due to the weight, and they also rubbed. He suggested that i instead got some 15 inch alloys, and lowered the car - and that it would still look great, but have better performance.
Any suggestions whats the best option, i want good performance and the car to look stunning, and also want to be able to get over speed bumps etc!

cheers,
Chris

Stick with somehting 15 or 16", 17's or above will slow your car down, might rub and give you a horrible rough ride. Speed bumps shouldn't be a horrible problem with your car if you lower it, unless you go more than a 2" drop in which case you might have a problem every once in a while, but if you stick Eibach pro-kit or Tein S-tech's you shouldn't have a problem, plus your car would look sweet and handle much better with the wheels/tires.
