OK, so the original Bridgestone Potenza RE92's are really starting to wear and tear that came with my car (I think they were junk to begin with). I did some searching over the internet n stuff and I found 2 different tires I'm trying to decide on. Bridgestone RE96 Pole Position and the Goodyear Eagle GT. The RE96 runs $75/tire and the GT runs about $65/tire. Both have excellent reviews and ratings. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has either of these 2 tires and has any suggestions or comments about them? Thanks!

 

I've had my pole positions for a couple of weeks now. So far they've done me well, although I have yet to take them on a course or track.

The word is out (well, as far as Car & Driver mag is concerned)! They did a comprehensive low-cost tire test to see which ones are best at:

Autocross (dry) Kumho XS
Autocross (wet) Dunlop Star Spec
Braking (dry) BF Goodrich G-Force KDW (5th place overall)
Braking (wet) Hankook Ventus V12 EVO
Skidpad (dry) Kumho XS (3rd place overall)
Skidpad (wet) Hankook Ventus V12 EVO (2nd place overall)
Lowest sound level: Bridgestone Potenza RE760 (4th place overall)
Lightest tire: Yokohama S.Drive (6th place overall)

Best overall tire: Dunlop Star Spec

Biggest shocker of the test: Kumho wet performance: so bad it was described as "nothing short of diabolical....when they let go, there was a long, hairy slide before recovery, and the point at which they would give up is impossible to predict..."

Others: Falken Azenis RT-615 (7th place overall)
Nitto Invo (8th place overall)
Ling Ling L688 (9th and last place overall)
