cv axel problems

Default cv axel problems

I have a 98 ex and have recently replaced the passenger side axel and now 2 months later it coms out of the tans all of a suden when im driving. the joint closest to the trans is easy to push together and the pull back apart.
any ideas will be helpful

there is a retaining clip on the inboard end of the axle. get a new one from honda and replace it. shouldnt be expensive, or too difficult.

the clip is not on the axel but it was when i put it in thats what puzzles me iv never seen one just pop out and what about the play in the axel boot

the joints are usually easy to extend and retract. im not sure why the clip came off, but hopefully it wont cause any problems inside your tranny, but unless you want to take out your tranny and take it apart to find the clip (not what i would do) put on a new one and hope your tranny internals win the fight between them and the clip, or that it will just settle to the bottom. technically, you should change them whenever you pull the axles out. i dont do it, but i should start. maybe ill go buy like 10 of them and just have them around, so i dont have to make a run to the dealership when i hafta pull my tranny.
