Hoping someone can clarify this??
Hi All,
We bought a 2008 Civic and had the 205/55R16 and summer tires put on it. Now with winter coming I phoned around to a few tire shops to see about getting some winter rims and tires. The 3 places I called gave me 3 different answers. For the winter rims the prices ranged from $60.00 to 484.00 each. When I called Canadian Tire they told me I needed a special winter rim ordered for the Civic.
Yesterday I dragged out some winters tires and rims I had for our old Dodge Grand Caravan just to see if they would fit. They are 205/70R15. They bolted on just fine and there was no obstructions on the calipers.
My question is, would the 205/70R15 winters tires and rims be safe and work on the Civic which has 205/55R16 summers?
Thanks.

I don't want to use my alloy rims in the winter time. It's easier just to get a set of winter rims and tires and swap like that when the time comes.
The ones from my dodge van don't rub on the front.
Are they safe though?
