Alright so I need to get my brakes done, and before taking it to the local shop to get them done, I wanted to buy some better stopage for my car. But I will only get better stopping and less heat on the disc if I buy a new rotor system correct? Is there any brake pads out there that someone will recommand or should I just go with the generic stuff the local shop gives me?

So rotors are out of the question (I dont have the cash atm), can someone recommand some quality pads? This is for a 97 Civic EX, tyvm! Also since I have rear drums do I have to replace those too?

 

I always use OEM brake parts.

 

the drums will last a while longer, so i wouldnt worry about them unless they are starting to make noise. maybe just have them inspected. as for a better set of brake pads, I usually just go to autozone and get the Performance Friction ones. they are carbon-metallic and stop well enough for light track use, but work well on the street too. OEM brake parts are good, but you are falling into the realm of pleasing everyone at the sacrifice of what you want. If you will trade a little more dust, a little more rotor wear, and a little more noise for longer pad life and better stopping power, then a good set of brake pads is a good investment. though it seems stock rotors last a lot longer than most non-oem replacements.

 

Thanks guys I went with some Qualitee VGX pads off of summit, for 24$. There a direct replacement for stock setup.

 

I have Hawk performance pads and they work great. REally good stopping power from the pads and OE rotor.s
