new guy drop help
i do not have my car yet, so i have been looking and planning what i want to do with it. what im looking to get is a 98-01 civic. i am going to get a set of 16" rims. i also live i
my main question is what do i need to drop it 1.5-2"? what i found out so far was the coilover vs drop spring debate. i am going to get new shocks http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=2470. what would you recomend for wisconsin weather, coil over or lowering springs? besides the springs and shocks, what else do i need to get?

Welcome to the forum!
As far as I know, the winters are pretty harsh in Wisconsin, right? I'd recommend coilovers so you can raise it back up to (near)-stock height in the winters. Just don't cheap out and get ebay coilovers; you get what you pay for. I've heard good things and I've heard bad things about DropZone coils (which are a little over $100). Personally, I really don't think it's a good idea to cheap out on the devices that hold your 2200lb vehicle up. As for me, I'm getting a set of Ground-Control coilovers (I live in PA, and the winters here can get pretty nasty)... they're around $300, and the springs are made by Eibach, so you know they're good

well if you have bad winters.... id say buy a truck for winter if your roads are realy bad!!!!!!!
otherwise i dont even think a stock height civic will be a good choice for winter driving.LOL ya should be able to find a cheap beater winter truck....

it depends. i live in milwaukee and the mainstreets are cleared out pretty fast. the bad thing with our roads is that we get potholes everywhrere due to the plows. otherwise, our roads are pretty clear. will dropping the car an inch and a half make that big of a diffrence with 16inch rims?
well, that depends on a few things. Do you have a body kit or even a lip kit? They both lower your car's ground clearance a bit. Overall, if you have a stock body, you should be fine; most people around here get Tein S-techs,which lower the car about 1.7", and I don't hear many people complaining about bottoming out.
And in the end, even if your car is too low, you eventually figure out how to drive a low car (like you figure out how to get around certain obstacles, how to get into driveways, etc.)

i also live in pa and get hit pretty good. I have eibach springs and kyb adjustables 1.5 drop and i only had to park it for 3 days when we got hit hard (didn't feel like shoveling). The most important part of driving in the winter is main roads, side roads usually never get plowed right away and can be tricky but when in doubt floor it and you'll make it..
LOL.... well my Stechs feel great BUT i do scrap something going thru the MIKES EXPRESS car wash. LMFAO but nothing bad enough to keep me from going thru it every other week. LMFAO

96-00 is probably what you're looking at.
I've never been to Wisconsin, but I think that with a mild drop you should be all right. As far as what else to get, have extra LCA bushing on hand if you do the work yourself, you are going to have seized bolts. Or just spring for new LCAs. It'll make you look cooler.
16 inch rims are well sized for that gen and that drop, looks good. You should have a nice little ride.
