Default Strut replacement

I replaced the front struts on my 94' civic with no problems, but when I went to do the back the bolts for the struts are rusted on. Even with a impact wrench they will not loosen. I had the control arm off with the strut on it and could not get it off. Any ideas other than grinding them off and drilling out the bolt??

Default RE: Strut replacement

There could be a couple of things going on. When I did my suspension, it looked like the nut was actually tack welded on to the strut. I would get a torch and just heat up the nut which will make it expand and make it easier to get it off. If you are good with a grinder; you could grind those welds off. What ever you do, make sure you use plenty of WD or Brakleen for lubrication(while wrenching, not cutting!!!!!). But i'm almost positive that is the case. Post back if it worked!!
