ok heres the deal, i am planning to get 16 inch rims with 40 series low profile tires, i want to drop my car 1.5 inches, the mechanic says this is not a good idea, he said the tires are to thi and i am going to be hitting my oil pan since i live in NY with extreme potholes, then i called anotehr mechanic he said it was ok but he reccommendeed h and r lowering springs, wut do u ppl suggest, is dropping my car with 16 inch 40 series tires bad and will it affect the parts under my car due to potholes, help please!!!

 

no, u should not have any scraping issues. 1.5 isnt that big of a drop. u'll be just fine unless u have like 1ft deep pot holes everywhere.

 

don't you already have another thread on this? Like I said before... don't drive into potholes at speed!

but I'd probably get 15's if I were you

 

if i get 15's what series tire am i suppose 2 get and yea i did post a thread but i talked to a mechanic 2day and he said go ahead drop it, ill have fun replacing ur oil pans all the time

 

if you run 16's you should use a 45 series tire and a 50 series tire for 15's. 205/45/16 or 205/50/15
