upper ball joint removal

Default upper ball joint removal

i have looked up and down and can't find how or if i can remove the upper ball joints on my 92 civic hatch. i know that it is supposed to be part of the uca, but if it is how can SPC sell just an adjustable ball joint. thanks

Pick up a Factory Service Manual online or from your local Honda dealer. It's more detailed than Chiltons or Haynes and will pay for itself in no time.

You can't replace the ball joint by itself, you have to replace the whole control arm

here, i jsut did the same thing last week

Sorry to revive a dead thread but....

Let me start by saying that I am no mechanic by any stretch of the imagination and I am not challenging you on this. I am about to do it tomorrow and want to make sure that I understand everything.

You say that you can't remove the upper ball joints but in the Service Manual on page 18-12 it shows you how.

That is the same ball joint that we are speaking of, right? Please don't tell me that there is another ball joint somewhere besides the lower and upper.

EDIT: Now I see....nevermind. But apparently you can still get it out with a press.

If you call up cap or some other stores you might find that the entire upper control arm will be cheaper than that damn adjustable one because when i went and got mine the entire arm was cheaper. and easier to put in.
