1st gear slipping in my auto trans.
Just bought this car and noticed its slipping in 1st gear in the auto trans,
its a 1998 LX 4 door Civic. i don't know a whole lot about civics and was wondering if someone could recommend a site where i could buy a master rebuild kit for this auto transmission? and does a master rebuild kit come with a pump? if not how much do those normally cost? ( i'm assuming the engine and trans are 100% stock which i also am assuming is D16Y7 )
i press on the gas and the car feels like i am using a manual and only letting the clutch half way out and then the RPM's go up to about 6-7k and it shifts to second gear and the car starts moving...so it SEEMS like its the clutch. i'm looking for a cheap solution...or a web site that sells master rebuild kits if i decided to go that route.
I'm doing the research this week, but any help that you guys could give me would be great. i am going to tear out the trans this week to see exactly how bad it is and decide to rebuild or just pay 225 for a used one with 89k miles on it that still shifts well that i found locally. for all i know i may not need a rebuild kit, i could just need a smaller kit or a pump. i'll know more later in the week if not by tonight.
i'm searching craigslist this week as well for used auto trans. other then an auto from 96-2000, do any other years with auto trans bolt right up?
(i know i posted this on another forum, but the first reply was that not many people on that forum mess with auto trans)

well i picked up a y8 trans today, hopefully it works well, it only had 80k miles on it and ran fine. guy did a b16 swap and didn't need it anymore, got it for 200 bucks, not a bad deal at all. i'll let ya know how it works out and probably be selling my old one.
