Default 6 speed transmission

I would like to get a manual 6 speed transmission for my 2000 civic si. I was wondering if I would have to completely switch out the engine too or if i could buy one. Also if anyone know how to get one I would appreciate it if you would tell me thanks.

you would have to get a new engine prolly a K series b/c those are the only ones with a 6 speed trans, except for the F20C outta the s2k's

i have a 99 si and im keepin my trans or swapping it out for a ys1 outof a teg. b/c the have a OEM LSD.

if you don't want a k series engine then there is no 6 speed option available in the honda family.

I know why you want a 6 speed.

you don't like being at 4800 rpm on the highway, lol.

look into a civic type R final drive.

I won't drone on too much in this thread, but keep in mind a 6 speed transmission won't necessarily lower your revs anymore than a 5 speed on the highway, nor might you gain top speed. Ok so I'll drone a bit.

The gearing for a JDM K20 6spd Type-R tranny and many (not all) 5spd B-series trannys (both USDM and JDM) are almost the same at the 6th and 5th gears. At any given RPM, both vehicles with these transmissions would be moving nearly the same speed in 6th and 5th gear. However, with the USDM K20A2 tranny (out of a RSX Type-S) you'd be traveling a bit faster because it's geared lower.

Just saying (not directed at anyone in paticular), don't base your purchases off assumptions. Do your research and punch the right numbers before doing anything too drastic.
