Clutch
Hey guys,
I need to get a new clutch put in my car. I will not do it myself cause i dont have the time nor the skills but i was wondering if i should get a specific clutch that isnt too expensive but will last and be durable for some rough driving occasionally? im looking at something around 200$. I have the stock clutch in now. i dont have anything done to the actual engine or tranny cept for a short shift. I do have like intake and **** but nothing specific to the engine type.
Thanks alot for the help.

Do you plan on making additional power? If not, get either a stage 1 or OEM replacement.
Stage 1 for more spirited driving with minor bolt ons, but I can't see how a brand new OEM clutch wouldn't give you that. "Stage'd" clutches are meant to hold power which is given to it, not to last (long) like an OEM replacement is made for.
I just replaced the clutch that came with my car recently. Not the most fun of things to do. The OEM clutch looked to have about 10,000 miles of life left and there were already 160,000 miles on it! Wow. Even more crazy is that the past 40,000 miles, I was beating on it, and the past 8,000 miles the car has been supercharged making ~60% power than stock. Yes, the stock clutch slipped slightly in higher rpms, thus the reason for replacement.
If you do go aftermarket, make sure you get something from a reputable company. Do research on the company and see what people have to say about each set-up. Some have a harder feeling pedal (pressure plate), some feel more like stock. I have a Competition Clutch Stage 2 street disc and think it is great so far (~7,000 miles). Once it was broken in 100%, the pedal felt just like stock.
Also, if you plan on replacing the clutch, the flywheel will either need to be replaced, or re-surface. If you are interested, you could always look into a lightweight flywheel. I would suggest something between 8lbs (even though some say that is too light - no problems over here yet) and 12lbs. The stock flywheel is ~16lbs.

I've heard really good things about the Exedy oem replacement kit. Really good price too. My clutch has 96k on it, and as far as I know it is the stock one. I beat it the whole time I've had this car (aka only like 4k miles), and it is kinda noisy if ou ride the clutch a little bit too much, Sounds like the tires are spinning a lil bit lol. I gots me a noisy throw out bearing too lol.

But you might be okay just getting your flywheel resurfaced, never know.
