Taller wheel diameter will lengthen your gear ratios essentially lowering your revs at a given speed. Btw, 130km/h is roughly 78-79mph but thats still some pretty crazy revving. I think Im at about 4250 at that speed with the same motor/tranny.

I have the DX trans as well (manual) and to hit 5000rpms at 100kph I'd be in 3rd. cruising at about 110kmh I've got 3000rpm on the nose. That tranny is gonna spew its guts all over the pavement...and probably much sooner rather then later!

Naw, the tranny is good, i've never had any trouble with it at all. How the hell would my tranny rev higher than yours if its the same?

**** I realized that you probably have larger wheels than mine, and the tranny is the same but because i did a swap, i have smaller wheels, making me rev higher than you.

How much would i be looking at if i wanted to get a longer final gear? Would i be better to kill this tranny and get a new one when it dies?

I have the stock 14s from the 91, with regular tires on them. if i goto a bigger rim and tire, i think they will rub.

Try this to check your tire sizes versus stock: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
