you could do that....

hardest part would be geting someone with a nice machining tools.... but first things first pull out your shifter boot and pull the shift **** off and use some cardboard to cut out the basic shape and test out the shifter.... because main thing thats gonna be hard is lining up the shifter cutout position with the travel of the shifter itself.. once ya got it done in cardboard then cut it out of 1/4inch mdf board and test it out..... hold the board onto the console trim panel and then shift the gears around.... if it doesnt feel smooth when shifting then modify it.... once ya got the basic shape worked out then just fine tune it and have it copied in some nice billet or something that you like.... or if your cheap.... copy it with some hardwood, cut the holes alittle larger and wrap it with some material.....

ive thought about it in my civic BUT i use my shifter boot for a change holder to much.LOL so i havent done it..
