Are there any electrical connections on an auto 91 civc hatch tranny?

What I am trying to figure out is if the car gets any input on beinng in park or neutral from the tranny its self or if it only comes from the switch on the selector stick.

My car takes a while to recognize that its in park when it is cold out. The park light on the dash won't come on and I can't get the key out. My first guess is the park/neutral switch on the selector stick. But maybe a sensor inside the tranny is having trouble?... I have checked the adjustment for the shifter and it was a little off, but the problem persists...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has a link to get a look at diagrams for auto transmissions...
