When rebuilding a transmission to put in larger gears, can you use any gears to put it, or do you have to use honda specific gears?

 

If you put in different gear, you need also change the corresponding gear (either changing to the main or counter), so basically.. if you change a gear in the counter shaft, you’ll also need to change the gear on the main, or else you would not be able to reinstall the tranny. It will be out of align with the internal shift fork.

 

Okay, That helps a little bit, but whatI really want to know is doI have to use gears from other hondas or from anything, or are you saying in
I do use gears from another tranny,I have to use the main gear from that as well,I have a lot of research to do beforeI even attempt this, so anything you have on this would help me out alot, thank you.

 

you should use gear either from other hondas or integ.. don't know if other gear will work.. it need to be perfect fit to thickness of a hair.. so it gota be precision fit.. i wouldn't recommend other non-honda gear.

 

why do you want to use non-honda gears?

 

I dont really want to i was just checking out my options. i was thinking maybe the basemodel Acura, but i guess thats just like a honda huh
