I have a 2003 Civic Hybrid with a 5 speed manual. It has 115,000 miles and my trans is stuck in second gear. I can not shift to any other gear or into neutral. I have searched the internet forums for tips on this, but I haven't seen any other occurrences of this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

Finally I took it into the dealer and they are suggesting there are major problems with the gears and sleeves. Estimate is $2980. I spent a bunch this summer on new transmission bearings and a clutch. The clutch had been fine, but they suggested doing it while they were in there working on the bearings because the trans bearings were $200 but it was $1300 in labor, so might as well do the clutch while I was in there.

Any ideas on this? I'm wondering if the repair work this summer was faulty and could have caused this problem. Or, could this be a simpler fix like a problem with the shifter mechanism or the cables?
