new tranny needed?

If I swap in a B16 a in place of my d16y7 in my 97 civic lx do I need a transmission or can I use the stock tranny?

A D-series tranny will not bolt up to a B-series block or vice versa.

Some companies do make adaptors, i've seen them, but the cost of them as opposed to a new unit is the equivalent of a b tranny.
