alright, so when i find a seller saying "y8 tranny for sale"
i approach the offer and spot the B000 stamp will it for a fact be for an EK?
or would i waste money to find it doesn't line up, i just wanna be 100% sure it will line up.

What I got out of it was that B000 trans is ex/si tranny. But to tell the difference if its from an eg/ek is the starter. So if you have a ek starter and want a ek tranny, bring the starter with you and try to install it. If it don't fit then its an eg tranny. If it does fit, then its a ek tranny. Is that correct 94chb?

pretty much, and the tranny mounts are a little shaped different, all d" series trans bolt up the same to the motor. also there might be a year stamp by the b000 stamp, if you wanna take a look at yours to verify this,
