I was practicing launching my car the other day and while going from 3rd to 4rth i missed the gear and my tranny made that horrible grinding sound. So i stopped and i realized that i couldnt get into 3rd or fourth from neutral i finally was able to get it back into 3rd and fourth with some force. So it feels close to normal going through the gears now but it feels like i have lost some of the pull going into fourth. So i fear i have sheared some teeth. Were can i find complete gear sets for my 99 si? or could it be something else? I feel like such a newbie posting this but i can take some grief for grinding gears if it means getting my car tranny back into mint condition lol thanks

 

sounds like you did more than just grind some syncros, Were you trying to force it into gear?

 

Regardless of what the problem is, you will have to take the tranny apart to fix it. After you take the tranny apart, you will be able to tell if the syncrho and/or gear needs to be changed. Drain the tranny fluid, check for metal shavings. If you see metal shavings then there is definatly something wrong.

 

you wont be able to use the 99-00 si gear sets.

they are different unless you have a b series trans.

and if your goin to be goin realllly fast you can put the LS 5th gear in it
