Default Possible Damage?

I guess I'm a little paranoid here because I haven't gotten the damage estimate from the inshurance company yet, but to make a long story short, I rear ended a Mustang on the freeway going about 70 mph when he was going about 20 mph. Of course I was in 5th gear. Is it possible that the transmission is damaged, since I basically went from 70 to 0 in less than a second? Would this cause clutch damage?

I just went and looked at my car and I sort of had the same accident. Except I hit a telephone pole. I'm not sure how fast I was going but I couldnt get my car into gear after the accident. Its jacked up. But it might be because of the direct impact to the engine.

possible differential damage. Isn't the car totaled after such a collision?

Supprisingly no, they didn't total it. There was $ 4500 worth of damage, and the Kelly blue book for my car was about $4000. Come to think of it, immediately after the crash I tried putting it in gear and driving it out of the road, and it seemed like it wouldn't go into gear. The clutch just came out, but it didn't catch.
