Problem with shifter on my civic
It's stuck in park.
I can use the key to unlock it an shift to another gear, but it won't budge without it. It runs fine, doesn't make any strange nosies when shifting or anything else. The tranny fluid looks fine.
So what else could I try? Could it be a problem with the ignition? Could there a safety switch with the brake and it's going out? What else? Any direction and ideas on how to test would be helpful.
BTW, '95 LX Sedan with 92k on it.
Thanks

I know it locks up park when the ignition isn't on. The sensor for that lock feature would be my guess.
Does it work fine once you get it out of park?
Will it go back into park?
