DOB (dead outta box) trans possibly? it would suck if you had to switch it out again but dont rule out shotty workmanship, my buddy blew out 5th gear in his trans on his Cavalier (under warrenty) and it was in the shop for 2 weeks because everytime they threw a factory chevy rebuilt trans it had the same problems. so if you had a shop put it in take it back and make them fix it if you did i would get the oppinion of a local mechanic.
