Replace the Clutch
Hey everyone what is up, i just had one quick question and i will be done, but i just wanted to know if it was possible for me to replace my clutch in my car with out takin it to a shop, and also could i use regular jack and jack stands or does it need to be up higher and if i can what is the process on replacing the clutch if yall could let me know that would be awesome thanks again
You can do it, but if you don't know how, then it will be really hard to do it yourself. There are alot of things to take off and put back on, if you don't know what you're doing then you won't remember. Also you have to drop the tranny which is a little dangerous to do by yourself.
first always use jackstands, so in this case, pull both front wheels and put the front end on jackstands. You have to take off the intake, distributer, cap and rotor, and starter. You have to pull the passenger side axle. Put a jack under the the oil pan to support the weight of the engine. You have to take off the tranny mount(motor mount that the tranny attaches too) and I think one more motor mount but not positive. Anything that attaches the tranny to the chassis has to go. Then you have to take all the bolts from the transmission case(connects tranny to block), and pop the tranny from the block. It's been about 3 years since I did mine so Im a little hazy after this. I think all you do after you pull the tranny is pull the clutch but I don't remember. Then you need a new clutch obvioulsy and an alignment tool to get the new clutch on there correctly. Then reverse everything I just said. I prolly missed a couple things, anyone else is more than welcome to add.
