reverse sound?

Default reverse sound?

what makes that sound that (i think all) civics make in reverse

correction: almost all manual CARS. That's because of how gears normally made.

correction my civic and my brothrs civic and my freinds civic all make the noise and guess what theyre all automatics

The low pitched squeel kind of thing? I thought all cars did that.

All cars make that noise... like a remote control car! Even my benz makes the noise if I go fast enough backwards!
I dont know the answer you're looking for? Why? Because they just do in reverse! Maybe it is because cars are forward moving machines and reverse just has it do something that it really isnt built to... like those snowmobiles that can go in reverse!

Actually it does. If you scroll half way down, animated picture with gears shifting shows pretty clear - rear gears have straight tooth, while all other gears have angled ones. This is exactly the reason why they sound differently.

the reason your car makes a different noise in reverse is because the gears are straight cut gears and are meshed 100% unlike forward gears which are at like a 45 degree angle when they mesh.

look at this pic. forward gears the teeth are angled while reverse are straight when they mess
