a few weeks ago my speedometer stopped working before the new sensor came in my problem has esculated. now it is hard to move the gear shifter at all. even when in neutral. its a 97 civic ex coupe 5 spd. i can get it in gear and the engine will rev up and the car will barely move. is the transmission gone?

If changing gears is also difficult with the engine off, then you may have a transmission problem. Also check whether an axle popped out of the differential.
