Cool trans?

hey, i have a 97lx that i did a stock swap on when the motor locked. when i did it i decided to put a new cutch in it so i got one from autozone. it has been driving fine for months but now it bucks hard and you cant give it enough gas to stop it when taking off in frst gear only. i have to take off from 2nd and everything shifts and drives fine after that. does this sound like a cheap clutch issue or something worse from the trans? any ideas would be great. thanks

if i am stopped i cannot take off from first gear. it feels like when you first learn to drive stick, it bucks hard if you let up too early. this is what it does regardless of how much gas you give it, the whole car shakes like its gonna stall. this only happens in first gear so taking off in second is no problem and it drives fine after that.

When you said it ‘buck hard’, meaning it difficult to release like it stuck in gear?? If it is, you may have a cheap clutch plate where the spring has fallen out.

no, not really. you can shift it in and out of first no prob and when youre driving there is no problem. the clutch pedal doesnt feel off in any way in or out of gear and the shifter goes in and out gear no problem. only when taking off from first (and it doesnt do it every time) it has the feel just like you are gonna stall, like if you didnt give it enough gas goin up a hill and the car just bucks. but its not just bad driving, i cant give it more gas or keep it going. i have to clutch it and start in second.

does it feel like its hopping? because if the flywheel doesnt have a clean cut surface than when you take off from first you really feel it.

could be, i didnt resurface it when i did the clutch. i thought if that was the reason it would slip when i wind out a gear too, like if i was in second after 5k rpms. sounds possibly though, thanks

when a flywheel doesnt have a clean cut surface then when you take of in first it jumps.
that is the sign. it wont slip in high rpms.

You can buy one at the auto parts. They arent that expensive.
