Default transmission/clutch problems :(

Hey everyone..newbie here but really getting interested in Hondas...i just got a civic a few weeks ago but it has something wrong with the clutch/transmission... when i am in gear it makes a tapping sound that fluctuates with the rpms(sounds like someone hitting the transmission)... i dont know if its a clutch or the transmission... also when i press the clutch down the sound stops but when i let the clutch out in neutral it makes a really weird grinding sound... with my luck it is probably both (clutch and tranny)

Oh yea sorry guys... ive got a 94 civic 4 door...i think the motor is a d15...165XXX miles..great car for the price.($2000 plus whatever is needed for transmission/clutch)..but since getting it and driving it etc im going to get one for myself(this ones my wifes) and put some hi performance parts on...ive been doing some research and think that i may go with a vtec...what motor do you guys recommend that i can get cheap and just bolt up?

One more question...my buddy has a sun roof at his house that is off a two door coupe..mine leeks..will his just bolt up to my housing??

also anyone know where to get a new transmission in North Cal...

Well thanks for your time guys...
Adam

the grinding sound could be from a bearing going out so its making noise....
you could always replace the clutch and bearings thier and HOPE it was just those... like maybe a busted spring on the clutch or loose rivet....
bolt it all back up and HOPEFULLY its all good..... but if the noise is still thier... then must be the trannys gutts....

Your symptoms spond like input shaft bearing in the tranny. I just fixed mine, it wasn't the funnest experience I've encountered!
