transmission swap
My friend just bought a civic for cheap and just got a tranny for it at the same time for about 1500 dollars now he's broke and needs to put the tranny in there. can anyone gimme some pointers on how hard of a job r we looking at and what would would it take for us to do it. its a 92 civic with a 1.6 vtec S20 code transmission. help?!?
Not hard at all for the average mechanically inclined back yard mechanic. About the hardest part is removing the passenger side knucle. The hard part is removing the ball joint. After that it is your usual removing all required bolts and stuff. It is a little heavy, but a floor jack with wheels works good to hold it up. You will also need something to hold up the engine when you remove the tranny. When reinstalling the new one, you have to be sure it is going in right and don't force it(too much). Good luck.
