I wouldnt recommend doing a tranny swap from auto to manual. With the number of civics out there it would be more beneficial to sell your AUTO and buy a manual, but if you must and your car is near stock... a 5-speed is probably the best bet. If you plan on a lot of mods then think to the future and shoot for the 6-speed.

autos are good for fully built 8 sec cars that just dont allow you the time to shift. i dont think ur going to run into this problem. however, keeping the auto will hurt ur performance, and at least ur pride.

case in point, its not a honda, but here goes

subaru wrx number one
mods: up-pipe, down-pipe, full exhaust, stock intercooler, stock intake, boost controller, and that is it. running 16 psi. 5spd
total amount invested: 1300-1500

subaru wrx number two
mods: greddy upgraded 18g, custom front mount, up-pipe, down-pipe, cai, boost controller (18-20 psi), greddy emanage automatic
total amount invested 6000-7000

wrx number one beat wrx number 2 by at least half a car three times. twice from a stop, once from a roll. something to think about

honda autos suck. they cannot be compared to the ones found in high performance cars.
