Default Would this trani fit??

just a quick question guys, i have a stock automatic 99 civic 2 door, with a d16y8 engine,(trani idk) but i want to swap out the motor n trani but first i have to change alot of things, for example, i have to install the pedals, lines etc,

so i was thinking b4 i get the motor y not just get the trani n do that job, so i was wondering could a b18 trani fit with my current d16y8 engine that currently installed, would i need harnes work ? anything like that?

thanks for any info

Trannys are series specific in all cases, except the h2b.

You could buy and install the d-series manual transmission, then when you swap engine and tranny you already have the pedals, shift linkage and clutch pedal/system installed. That could make the final swap easier, but then you would have to buy an extra transmission.

not trying to hijack the thread but I think you guys answered the original question.... b series will NOT work on D... so my question is will ALL D Transmissions work on ALL D Motors like a y8 tranny would be the same as Z6 tranny im just curious and thats just an example

yep. the Y8 EX tranny will bolt right up to the Z6. only difference is the better internal parts are tuffer than the Z6 tranny. so if you have a Z6 its a good upgrade to go to Y8 tranny. but if you have a Y8 then i wouldnt suggest the Z6 tranny if your abusive slammen the gears. but if you drive normal than the Z6 is still a upgrade from the Y7 just not as strong internally as the Y7 Y8 ones, should get you by if your in need of a good tranny tho

When ever you get to the point of swapping, try to get a GSR trans or a B16 trans. They are shorter geared than the LS (b18ba and b18b) trans. However, if you plan on going the boost route, find a Hydro LS, longer gears are always a plus with boost.
