I am shipping my Civic to the UK and I need to disable the car alarm for the shipping but I still want to be able to lock the car.

How would I do this?

I have a 2001 Civic EX with factory and stock everything.

Thanks :)

If this is sensitive info please message me.

Why not just lock the car with the key and not set the alarm?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Well it sounds like a good idea apart from a number of things.

One, the car is going to be handled by other people to drive it in and out of the container that is going on the ship. They need the keys and remote and could turn the alarm on and off.

Two, if the steering wheel lock is activated and the doors are locked the car sets the alarm anyway whether the driver sets it or not.

Three, I really need a simple method that will disable the alarm sound that I can control and that no one can accidently turn on or off.

Any more ideas anyone?

Just give the ole Siren a snip... then re splice it later, or unplug the siren if you can.

Again an excellent suggestion aprart from the fact that the siren is the car horn and being a safety feature cannot be cut or disabled if the car is to be shipped.

Any more ideas?

Can you not just pull the fuse?

do you have an owners manual? its called "Valet Mode" its so that you can give the car to the valet and they wont keep setting off the alarm. there should be a way to do it, you can do it with most aftermarket alarms with a certain sequence of buttons.
