Exclamation Strange Car Behavior

I have a 2000 honda civic ex...aprox 100k miles...When i drive my car its jerks very bad sometimes when i drive down the road...Almost like it be stuttering....Sometimes at the stop light it idles so low it will just cut off on me...My CEL light is on and it reads p0420....I replaced both sensors already and my cat is gutted out....So basically I have no cat and i believe thats why its reading that code but does it cause it to act like that? I have also changed the distributor awhile back and the plugs and wires recently...Pls help...Also ive been reading on the site that it might be an exhaust leak or header leak?

P0420 is thrown because the cat is gutted. Have you recently tried to retrieve additional CEL codes from the ECU?

Begin by cleaning the IACV on the throttle body:

if cleaning the IACV doesn't work, check your ignition timing... it could be really advanced

This is a very good idea. You should also check the spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor for wear and corrosion.

a tip for the above instructions:
on the crank pulley you are looking for a cluster of 3 lines, and you align it to the middle line
