99 EX - Routing 4ga pwr wire thru firewall?
I know it sounds stupid, but we installers do it all the time. I just bought a 2005 SI (that's why I'm on this forum) and I was poking with a really long (14") skinny flatblade screwdriver through that grommet you're talking about. It's behind the glovebox (kinda). Take something stiffer than a clotheshanger, ummm... I can't think of anything around the house to use. Go to ACE or Home depot or whatever and get a REALLY long flathead screwdriver that's really thin, cause it will need to flex a little. Poke throught that grommet on the side of the wires, make sure you start a hole, and if poke downward, it will have to flex to get into the car. You got your hanger through so you have a good idea of how the path for the wire is gonna be. Now take your four guage, about 6 inches back, try to fold it and put your screwdriver in the crease, so when you push the driver in the hole now with the wire on it, it doesn't come off the screwdriver. Your screwdriver will puncture the rubber of the 4ga. Drive it through downwards into your car, and reach up behind your electronics behind the glove box. You'll feel the wire eventually. I wouldn't worry TOO much about hitting those wires while running those metal things through that grommet. But if you do hit them, you won't electricute yourself, you'll short something out. that could be bad, but the grommet is so much bigger than the amound of wire running through it, if you go off to the side a little from where the wires are, you should be fine.
